An elderly west El Paso woman was removed from her home this afternoon after El Paso police found her living in what they describe as deplorable conditions.
Police said they were at the home on the block of 6400 Belton on a protective order. They said the woman was hoarding several items and the home reeked. Neighbors said the problem started several years ago when her husband died. They said at one point the health department had to remove several cats from the home.
"In the last few years they've taken away most of her cats they left her a few, but she had at one point, she had 26," said Bassel Wolfe.
The woman was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, because of several spider bites on her legs.
Adult Protective Services is now investigating.
