El Paso, TX (KTSM) — State Representative Marisa Márquez (D-El Paso) is excited to announce that her office is seeking nominations—from educators, students and parents—for the Humanities Texas: 2014 Outstanding Teaching Awards, presented by the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
These annual awards recognize teaching excellence in such humanities subjects as history and social studies, literature and language arts, government, world cultures, or any foreign language.
Twelve teachers across the state will be selected to receive the Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award, one Texas history teacher will be selected to receive the Linden Heck Howell Outstanding Teaching of Texas History Award, and two additional educators will be selected for the Award for Outstanding Early-Career Teaching.
Recipients of all awards will receive $5,000, with an additional $500 for their schools to purchase instructional materials.
Please visit: http://humanitiestexas.org/education/teacher-awards for the eligibility requirements.
Nominations are due by December 11, 2013.
Humanities Texas will contact teachers who have been nominated and instruct them on how to apply for the awards.
