EL Paso, TX — Cross Country Standout Anthony Rotich claimed his first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week honor announced the organization on Tuesday.
At the Notre Dame Adidas Classic that featured eight of Division I’s top 30 squads including two top-10 programs and defending meet champion Chris O’Hare of Tulsa, it was Rotich who crossed the finish line first. The sophomore completed the 8K course in 24:18.6 to finish four seconds ahead of returning cross country All-American and 2013 indoor & outdoor 5000 meters All-American Luke Caldwell of New Mexico.
The All-American earned his fourth gold medal finish of the season at the Notre Dame Adidas Classic and has claimed two Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors.
The Miners will be back on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19 as they head to NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.
