El Paso, TX — Senior Xitlali Herrera is one of two Conference USA volleyball players selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team as announced by Cosida.
Earning second team honors in District VII, Herrera has proven to be a leader both on the court and in the classroom.
The All-American owns a 3.82 GPA in international business and was named to the 2012 Conference USA All-Academic team. Herrera appeared on the 2012 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist list as well as the Commissioner's Honor Roll the last two seasons.
The Middle blocker also earned AVCA All-American and All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention honors a year ago, in addition to being named to the All-C-USA First Team in 2011 and 2012. She currently ranks third in the league for most points per set with 4.10, followed by sixth in kills per set with an average of 3.98 and she's 16th in hitting percentage with a .303 clip.
Herrera and her teammates will round out the C-USA regular season at home this weekend as the Miners take on leading conference contender Tulsa on Friday at 7 p.m. (MT) and East Carolina on Sunday at 12 p.m.
