A Fort Bliss soldier was found alive after his wife reported him missing in the Gila Wilderness Monday.
New Mexico State Police searched for him all day yesterday in the forest near Truth or Consequences with the help of Fort Bliss' Blackhawk Helicopters. They eventually found Major Jeremy Thompson and his two dogs alive around 1a.m. Wednesday morning next to a campfire.
Thompson had gone out this past weekend to scout hunting locations. He was taken to William Beaumont Army Medical Center where he is being treated.
