El Paso, TX — The new IMAX® Theatre is scheduled to open at Premiere Cinema IMAX® at Bassett Place on November 21, 2013 with an exclusive early showing of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at 8:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.
An exclusive preview for media representatives will be conducted Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.
The new IMAX® screen replaces two standard screen auditoriums at the Bassett Place Premiere Cinemas location. A new roof was erected approximately 45 feet high to accommodate this new technology at the complex. The El Paso location will be one of the largest IMAX® theatres in Texas, with a screen 70 feet long by five stories tall.
IMAX® is one of the most recognized entertainment brands in the world, known for its larger-than-life movie theatres. IMAX® has more than 600 theatres operating in 60 countries worldwide, with approximately 300 of those in North America. IMAX® is significant in El Paso, as Premiere Cinemas IMAX® will feature movies exclusively in the world’s largest, most incredible presentation format. It is anticipated that this addition will attract audiences from a wider geographical region east, west and northeast of the city, including west Texas, southern New Mexico and northern Mexico. This will be the only true commercial IMAX® operating between Lubbock and Albuquerque.
Bassett Place is the original regional shopping mall in El Paso. The 739,911-square-foot enclosed shopping center is located at the intersection of I-10 and Geronimo Drive and is anchored by Costco Wholesale, Kohl’s, Target, Conn’s and Premiere Cinemas IMAX®.
