Doña Ana County, NM (KDBC) — Dona Ana County Sheriff's Deputies obtained a warrant for a 43-year-old man who is accused of stealing tools from a home in the 4200 block of Escondido in Dona Ana County.
According to court documents, 43-year-old Donald A. Looney was working with a landscaping crew at the residence on Escondido January 17, when he allegedly attempted to sell his boss, the landscape foreman, a bag of tools when they left for the day.
The following day, a mechanic who also works at the home on Escondido, reported to the landscaping foreman that his tools were missing. The tools described by the mechanic were the same that Looney allegedly tried to sell his boss.
The total amount of stolen items is estimated to be approximately $800. Investigators have tried to locate Looney, but have been unsuccessful in doing so.
Magistrate Judge Conrad Perea issued an arrest warrant Wednesday, charging Looney with one count of fourth-degree larceny. His bond was set at $5,000 cash.
Looney is described as five feet, eight inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s office, (575) 525-8806.
