El Paso, TX — UTEP dropped a pair of games to Florida Atlantic, 7-0, in game one and, 2-0, in game two on Friday night at FAU Softball Stadium.
The Miners drop to 15-29 and 7-10 in Conference USA play. The Owls improve to 29-21 and 11-9.
Florida natives Erika Arcuri (Tampa Bay) and Danielle Pearson (Orlando) each connected on singles, but Owls’ ace Samantha Messer pitched a complete game, striking out five and walking zero.
Jordan Stovall hit a two-run first inning home run as the Owls took an early lead. The Miners threatened as Tahla Wade and Samantha Alvillar singled on back-to-back hits with no outs, but Kylee Hanson was able to get out of the jam forcing a foul fly, fly out and striking out the third hitter.
