El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Sun Metro will begin moving their operations to the new Bicentennial Council Transit Operation Center, located at 10151 Montana, just east of Wedgewood. The department already started moving portions of its divisions earlier this week and expects to become fully operational at the new facility by Monday, May 5, 2014.
Sun Metro's fixed-route service and customer service line (915) 533-3333, will not be disrupted by the transition. The sale of Sun Metro passes and the issuing of reduced fare IDs will no longer be available at the Union Depot after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29. However, passengers seeking to buy weekly or monthly passes or to obtain a Sun Metro ID can do so at the Downtown Transfer Center, 601 Santa Fe; or at the Eastside Transfer Center, 1165 Sunmount.
The City of El Paso’s Department of Information Technology Services has been upgrading the telephone system citywide to allow for standardization and cost savings.
Beginning this week Sun Metro will switch to the new City prefix of (915)212-XXXX. To ensure a smooth transition occurs, the old phone numbers will continue to work for the next six months.
SUN METRO WILL CONTINUE TO USE THE (915)533-3333 PHONE NUMBER FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Passengers also will be able to call (915)212-3333 to speak to a Customer Service Representative.
The new upgrade will help improve overall customer service by:
- Offering callers menu options to improve call efficiencies
- Improving reliability by reducing lost calls or poor quality
- Recording calls for quality assurance and enhance customer service
- Assessing high-call volume periods to adjust availability of personnel accordingly
