EL PASO - Under the bright lights of the Sun Bowl... country crooner Lee Greenwood will take the field at halftime to hopefully score a touchdown with a patriotic crowd.
"You think about where our country has come and where our country is heading and the war time...especially Fort Bliss where we have so many troops and we're bringing in so many additional troops, this is just so perfect for our community."
Hyundai of El Paso President Oscar Leeser promises Greenwood will sing the national anthem along with his patriotic hit of the 1980s... "God Bless the U.S.A."... which became extremely popular after striking a chord with Americans following the terrorist attacks of 9-11.
"After he sings 'God Bless the U.S.A.' I think...probably going to bring some tears to some people's eyes."
Leeser says Hyundai will sponsor the Sun Bowl's halftime show for the next four years. Past performers include David Archuleta and Rihanna.
"We've had some good acts, but in my personal mind, I think this is probably the biggest act that the Sun Bowl has brought to El Paso yet."
Hyundai has invited 2,500 military members to attend this year's Sun Bowl on December 31st.
