At the last minute, Ty Cobb pulls out of fight claiming a shoulder injury.
According to promoter Zeferino Ramirez “I believe that as the fight approached, Cobb was feeling the heat, and not wanting to have another loss on his record, he pulled out. I cannot express my frustration and disappointment by him doing this, with only 1 week before fight night.”
Cobb was set to meet El Paso’s own David “El Nino” Rodriguez on February 11, 2011 at University of Texas El Paso’s Don Haskins Center at 6p.m. The fight will go on as Ramirez found coveted fighter Matt Hicks of Las Vegas, Nevada to step-up.
Hick’s comes with a record of 13 wins and 5 losses. Promoter Ramirez says “I feel that Hick’s will be a good match against David. Hicks have notable fights against the likes of Lou Savarese and BJ Flores. Hick’s comes with all he has and leaves it all in the ring. Hick’s will be ready, but so will David.”
