MEXICO CITY— A vaccine against cocaine? It's now a possibility.
Researchers in Mexico are developing a vaccine against the drug. The vaccine is not ready for human testing just yet, but it has been tested on rats.
Mexico's national institute of psychiatry said the drug has had positive results and has managed to block the effects of lethal doses of cocaine. Tests in rats also proved it prevented the passage of the drug into the brain.
Researchers are hoping the vaccine will one day be used to fight against the addiction to cocaine and other drugs.
