When UTEP men's basketball updated their roster to include the 2014 signing class, Chris Sandifer was not included. When asked, UTEP officials told NewsChannel 9, "[Chris] has some work to do academically. If he gets everything in order he will be added to the roster. But right now he's not with us."

The 6-5 Sandifer is a four-star recruit out of Los Angeles, CA and top-100 prospect by multiple scouting services.

NewsChannel 9 spoke with Sandifer about is current status. He responded, "I have to get an 18 on my ACT. I was close to that the first time though."

He added that he will retest in two weeks and expects to qualify once the results are returned.

When asked if he could still join UTEP in time for the start of the Fall Semester, Chris replied, "definitely."

Sandifer was part of a 7-man signing class for UTEP. The Miners received Sandifer's Letter of Intent during the early November signing period. Head Coach Tim Floyd said of the Taft HS senior, "Chris has great size for his position. He’s an explosive athlete who can shoot the three."
