Aggie baseball to face Mavericks in 3-game series

THIS WEEK: The New Mexico State baseball team returns home for a three-game Western Athletic Conference series against UT-Arlington, April 26-28. Friday and Saturday’s games start at 6:05 p.m. (MT) at Presley Askew Field. The series finale begins at 1:05 p.m. (MT) on Sunday.

MEDIA COVERAGE: New Mexico State baseball fans will have 10 more opportunities to follow the Aggies on the radio on KSNM AM 570 in Las Cruces, N.M.

Fans can listen Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, on KSNM AM 570, while Friday’s game is televised as part of the Aggie Vision productions. For a complete listing of airtimes in your area for games televised by Aggie Vision, go online to or call your cable or satellite provider.

PROMOTIONS: Friday night is “First Responders Night” with the Aggie Athletic Department honoring all members of a first-response team at the game. Kids will also have a chance to run the bases immediately following Friday’s game. Saturday night is “Military Appreciation Night,” with all members of the military able to enter the game free of charge. There is also a free pre-game kids clinic and a postgame autograph session that day. Sunday is “Teacher Appreciation Day” and 50-cent hotdogs.

Aggie fans have plenty of chances for giveaways during Aggie home games. Fans have a chance to win a free pizza from Lorenzo’s during the “Fantastic Fan of the Game.’ Fans can also win a gift certificate for free wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. NM State baseball t-shirts are thrown into the crowd after an Aggie hits a home run and if the Aggies tally 10 runs or more Lorenzo’s will give fans 50% off any dine-in pizza.

ABOUT THE AGGIES: The Aggies head into this weekend’s games sitting in a tie for the fourth spot of the league standings. NM State is 23-19 overall and 8-7 in WAC play. The team dropped a series to Texas State on opening weekend of league play, then traveled to CSU Bakersfield and won one of three games there. The Aggies bounced back and took the series from Dallas Baptist, who was picked to win the WAC in the preseason coaches’ poll, but fell in two of the three games versus Sacramento State. Last weekend the Aggies swept the series against Louisiana Tech to move up in the WAC standings.
