El Paso (KDBC) — DeMarco Murray exploded for 175 of the Cowboys 193 rushing yards as Dallas ran away with a 31-7 victory over St. Louis Sunday.
The Cowboys only managed 37 yards on the ground last week against Kansas City in a 1-point loss so the emphasis was on establishing a run game against the Rams.
"When you get a runner like that going, you can feed on him," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "He gets a little contagious for everybody. Everybody starts feeling it."
The Dallas defense was impressive once again holding St. Louis to only 35 yards rushing and sacking Ram's QB Sam Bradford 6 times. Coming into the game, the Rams had yet to give up a sack to opposing defenses.
"I think of it every time I think of his number of sacks," said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. "I can't say that it is unexpected because of how hard he works, and his talent level, and his competitiveness."
Tony Romo threw for 210 yards on 17 of 24 passing finding three different receivers for touchdowns in the win. The Cowboys offense accounted for 396 total yards. The only blemish, a muffed punt by Dwayne Harris recovered by the Rams.
The Cowboys won their first two home games at their new stadium for the first time since it opened in 2009. Dallas head to Qualcomm Stadium to face 1-2 San Diego Chargers.
