Oxnard, CA — As training camps begin for NFL teams, the injuries start to mount... and that includes a defensive star for the Cowboys. Anthony Spencer, a defensive end for Dallas, says he has a knee that's balky, and it may need surgery. An MRI found a bone bruise.
Spencer says he would be out for two to three weeks if he does need to go under the knife. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett says the team does not think it is severe, and they will come up with an action plan in the next few days.
Spencer did not participate in a practice on Monday, but he says the injury is troubling.
"It's concerning to me. I mean, it's bothering me right now I really don't know what else to do so I'm taking it day by day," said Spencer. Cowboys coach Garrett added, "We don't think it is a very severe thing," Garrett said. "We just wanted to make sure we got it cleaned up. We thought getting it cleaned up sooner rather than later was better for him and our team…We don't think he's going to be out for too, too long."
