Las Cruces, NM (KDBC) — Former New Mexico State center Sim Bhullar can add another first to his career after making his first bucket as a professional Saturday. It was the only points the 7-foot-5 giant had in three minutes of play but was his second appearance with the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Kings owner Vivek Ranadive said he has big hopes for Bhullar.
"I want to make basketball the premiere sports of the twenty-first century and what Yao Ming did for China, we hope players like Sim can do for India," said Ranadive who was born in Mumbai, India.
"It's just a blessing for me just to be in this situation. I'm honored to have a chance to make it this far. Be able to almost crack the barrier and make the NBA," said Bhullar. "It's crazy to see how much support you have. How much of an impact you can really make globally in the game of basketball so it's pretty crazy."
