Denver-The few remaining playoff tickets for the Denver Broncos' Jan. 12 AFC divisional playoff game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High sold out in just nine minutes, the team said Monday.
There were 5,000 tickets put on sale at noon Monday at ticketmaster.com. Patrick Smyth, executive director of media relations, said the Broncos earlier had sold AFC divisional playoff game tickets to season ticket holders, and that 22,000 of the 23,000 season ticket holder accounts bought those tickets.
Ticket prices ranged from $60 to $200 for reserved seats and $175 to $425 for club seats. The Broncos said tickets were available only to residents of Colorado and other Rocky Mountain states: New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota and the western part of Kansas.
The Broncos ended the regular season with a 38-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs to become the No. 1 seed in the AFC, earning a first-week bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Smyth warned fans to be wary of tickets for sale on "secondary market" websites (such as Craigslist), where counterfeit tickets have been sold. He urged buyers to use "team-affiliated outlets" such as the Broncos ticket office, TicketMaster and Ticket Exchange.
