The New Mexico State men's basketball team returns to the Pan American Center to host Southern Mississippi, Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7p.m. The game can be heard on the Aggie Sports Network and KGRT 104 FM in Las Cruces, and the pregame show starts 30 minutes prior to tip. This is the first AggieVision broadcast of the season with Jeff Matthews and Glen Cerny. The game is shown live on Comcast across New Mexico, taped delayed in Las Cruces until 10 p.m., live on Altitude Sports and ESPN3 and tape delayed on Fox Sports Arizona until 9:30 p.m.
New Mexico State Aggies
The Aggies are 3-4 this season after dropping the first rivalry game of the season at UTEP, 55-54, Nov. 28. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings and senior forward Tyrone Watson are leading the team with 13.0 points per game each, and senior forward Bandja Sy is contributing 8.6 points per game.
Scouting Southern Mississippi
The Golden Eagles started the season with a 6-0 record following a 61-50 win over Denver, Nov. 27. Senior forward Dwayne Davis has a team-high 16.2 points per game average. Both senior forward Jonathan Mills and junior guard Jerrold Brooks are adding 9.7 points per game.
Southern Mississippi leads the all-time series 2-1 after winning both meetings during the 2011-12 season. This will be the Golden Eagles first trip to Las Cruces.
NM State fell at Southern Mississippi, 74-66, Dec. 4, 2011. The Aggies made a late comeback but couldn't recover from a slow start. With his first field goal of the game, forward Wendell McKines became the 28th member of the 1,000-point club at NM State. He finished the game 15 points. Guard Christian Kabongo led all scorers with 21 points, and guard Hernst Laroche was also in double-digits with 12 points.
Aggies Fall in a Heartbreaker at UTEP 55-54
NM State suffered a tough one-point loss, 55-54, at I-10 rival UTEP, Nov. 28 in El Paso, Texas. Senior forward Tyrone Watson led the Aggies with 13 points. Junior center Tshilidzi Nephawe and sophomore guard K.C. Ross-Miller both added nine points each.
