El Paso, TX — The New Mexico State men’s golf team is sixth overall after two rounds of the Arizona Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,282-yard Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The Aggies carded a two-round team score of 18-over par, 586.
The UTEP men’s golf team is in ninth place through 36 holes of the Arizona Intercollegiate on Monday in Tucson. It is UTEP’s first tournament of the spring season.
The Miners fired rounds of 296 and 302 for a total of 598 with one round to play on Tuesday.
USC heads up the 14-team field (281-283-564).
Two Aggie golfers are in the top-10 after two rounds of play. Junior Pat Beyhan is even par, 142 (68-74) and is fifth overall. Beyhan carded four birdies on the day and an eagle in the first round. Sophomore Kenneth Fadke II is currently tied for sixth at 1-over par, 143 (72-71). He fired a team-high eight birdies in the first two rounds.
UTEP’s Jere Pelletier is tied for 15th place (69-76-145), Martin Simonsen is tied for 28th place (78-71-149), Jacob Loya is tied for 32nd place (73-77-150), Roberto Ruiz is tied for 55th place (76-78-154) and Prescott Mann is tied for 78th place (82-80-162).
The Miners’ Jose Manuel Romero, competing as an individual, is tied for 42nd place (76-75-151).
Par is 71 on the 7,262-yard course at Sewallo Golf Club.
