Las Cruces, NM — The New Mexico State volleyball team plays two matches on the road this week. The Aggies face Idaho, Thursday, Oct. 31 in Moscow, Idaho at 7pm (MT) before facing Seattle U, Saturday, Nov. 1 at 8pm (MT).
Radio Coverage: The Aggie Sports Network is airing four more matches over the radio waves this season, all on KSNM AM 570, with Jay Sanderson giving the play-by-play action. The matches airing over the in Las Cruces can also be heard from anywhere around the world on the Internet by logging onto www.NMStateSports.com. Just click on the live events link to access the coverage for a fee.
Saturday’s match against Seattle U will be on the radio with first serve set for 8pm (MT).
Television Coverage: Six matches are scheduled to be produced for television by the AggieVision Production team this year. For a complete show times go to www.AggieVision.tv or call your local cable provider.
The next match that will be produced by AggieVision is, Tuesday, Nov. 12 when the Aggies take on UTEP.

About the Aggies: The Aggies won both their matches at home last week and have won eight of the last 10 matches. They have also won 10 of the last 13 matches. NM State is currently in first place in the WAC and heads into week 10 of play one-half game ahead of Utah Valley and one game ahead of Bakersfield.
NM State is currently hitting .213 during the 2013 season, while hitting .258 in WAC matches, ranking first in the league. The Aggies are holding league opponents to a .104 hitting percentage in 10 matches played, which is tops in the conference. They are also tops in the league, during WAC matches, blocking 3.15 balls per set.
Red-shirt sophomore Gwen Murphy ranks second in WAC matches with a .425 hitting percentage, just ahead of senior Desiree Scott, who has a .391 hitting percentage in WAC matches. Scott is No. 2 in WAC matches with 1.50 blocks per set and Murphy is No. 5 with 1.24 per set.
Scott, Murphy and senior Lauren Loerch rank among the top 10 in WAC play for points per set.
NM State returns five starters as well as a libero from the 2012 WAC Tournament Champion team. Leading the way for the Aggies are 2012 All-WAC selections, seniors Desiree Scott (middle hitter) and Lauren Loerch (outside hitter). NM State also returns senior libero/outside hitter Stephanie Ziegler who was named to the 2012 WAC all-tournament team. The Aggies finished the 2012 season with a 22-11 record while reaching the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history, all under head coach Mike Jordan.
This Week’s Opponents:
IDAHO: The Aggies are set to take on Idaho for the 32nd (17-14) time in program history. In their first match this season, NM State out-hit the Vandals .298-.067 and out-block them 11-6. The Aggies swept the October 5th home match (25-15, 25-18, 25-19).
Head Coach Debbie Buchanan is in her 14th season with the Idaho Vandals and has coached the Vandals to a 6-4 record in the WAC this season. Helping lead the Vandals is sophomore setter Meredith Coba who has 841 assists on the season.
Seattle U: The Aggies will take on WAC opponent Seattle University for the 3rd time in program history. NM State has won all previous meetings against Seattle including 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-14, 25-21) victory at home on October 6th earlier this season.
Seattle U is sitting in fourth place in the WAC standings with a 7-4 record under first year head coach James Finley. Seattle U’s volleyball team is lead on the court by sophomore middle blocker Martina Samadan who currently leads the WAC in conference play with a .513 hitting percentage including 92 kills.
