El Paso, TX — Marques Daniels says fans can expect a “big bang” when he meets JR “Hitman” Sotelo in El Paso, Texas on September 28 at Rocktagon 29.
The two lightweight stars are slated to headline the highly anticipated fight card on Saturday night at a catch weight of 160-pounds.
Sotelo, a member of Bushido MMA, will once again have the luxury of competing in front of his hometown fans. He is coming off a blistering first round knockout victory over Joe Torrez at Rocktagon 28.
When it comes to fighting, Sotelo isn’t the type of fighter to harp on secret game plans or point scoring. With all of his professional wins coming by TKO, fans typically know what to expect every time he steps into the cage. He’s a pressure fighter who is constantly pressing forward and looking for an opportunity to finish the fight on the feet.
In an exclusive interview with Rocktagon, Sotelo didn’t seem to hinge his hopes and dreams on winning and losing. Instead, his main objective every time the cage door closes on fight night is putting on a great performance and leaving fans with a lasting impression:
“I’m always going to bring the fight. I’m never going to be the person that’s going to be circling the cage or waiting for him to do something. I’m going to bring the fight, and that’s something that the fans know that I’m going to do. I’m not a boring fighter. I’m somebody that the fans want to see fight. …Win or lose, I’m going to put on a show.”
Putting on a great show won’t be hard with Daniels as an opponent.
A member of the All Army Combative’s Team Bliss, Daniels is definitely the kind of fighter fans appreciate. Like Sotelo, he is an aggressive fighter with the capability of tapping the off switch on any chin. Despite only one official knockout on his professional record, Daniels has put several opponents on wobbly legs in heavy standup exchanges.
While he doesn’t officially have a nickname, it wouldn’t be an overstatement if the media leaned towards “Flash.” Daniels told Rocktagon that he hopes his speed and diverse skill set earns him his third consecutive win on Saturday night:
“His height is a problem for me. He likes to stand and bang, which is not a problem, but like I said, it’s a fight. I’m there to fight, he’s there to fight. A big bang is what [fans] can expect to see. Guaranteed, it’s going to be a big bang in the first round. The first two minutes it’s going to be very explosive, and I promise you that. And if it doesn’t end there, it’s going to end in a submission. I’m going to submit him.”
