UTEP’s soccer has received a prestigious honor by earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for once again having a team GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2011-12 scholastic year.
The Miners had an exemplary performance with a 3.12 cumulative GPA as a squad. UTEP also was recognized by Conference USA this past year, piling up 24 academic honors. The Orange and Blue placed 16 members on the 2011-12 C-USA Academic Honor Roll (minimum 3.0 GPA) in addition to having eight secure C-USA Academic Medals (min. 3.75 GPA)

“I am very proud of UTEP Soccer's achievements in the classroom,” head coach Kevin Cross. “Success in the class room as well as on the soccer field shows a lot about this team's character. I really appreciate UTEP Soccer's commitment to academic success.”

UTEP is also looking to be in good shape for earning the award for the 2012-13 scholastic year, with the team once again taking care of business in the classroom. Three Miners were voted onto the distinguished 2012 C-USA All-Academic Team, in the form of Tess Hall, Tori Martyn & Azia Nicholson.

Additionally, Hall and Asuchak were selected to the 2012 CoSIDA All-District Second-Team.

Overall the Miners have now earned more than 185 academic awards since the inception of the program.
